First opened in The City of London in 2012, and with a Michelin star granted in 2013, Hkk is another superb restaurant from the Hakkasan group—and with a wine program that warrants yet another three-star award from the World’s Best Wine Lists 2015 judges.
Offering fine Chinese cuisine in a modern idiom in menus of four to 15 courses, signature Hkk dishes from head chef Tong Chee Hwee include seared Wagyu beef with coffee barbecue sauce, and passion fruit jelly with lychee tapioca.
As ever from Hakkasan wine director Christine Parkinson, the list is superbly balanced and international, offering discoveries and classics alike, and always with a nod towards the cuisine.
Neatly divided into thoughtful categories (the self-explanatory “curious, distinctive whites” or a set of global fine wines described as “new classics: genius without a château”), the list moves with confidence between the New and the Old World, from Croatia to the Barossa, and from Burgundy to Turkey.
